Cheshire Wildlife Trust is offering a new exciting new opportunity for the right candidate to join our Conservation team. This position is an opportunity to help deliver a vitally important service by influencing decision making mainly, but not exclusively, through the planning system, securing better outcomes for wildlife.

You will use your professional expertise and communication skills to advise on ecological planning matters. This will involve working at both a local and strategic level, for example by helping to identify, map, protect and enhance Nature Recovery Networks as well as responding to planning consultations and engaging with planners and consultants.

A substantial part of the role will involve improving how the Cheshire Wildlife Trust engages and communicates our planning work to wider audiences. It will also involve supporting local communities to develop local strategies/planning policies and to help individuals submit their own responses to planning consultations.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in an environmental or related discipline and have a good understanding of the planning system pertaining to wildlife and be familiar with UK and European wildlife legislation. You will have an excellent understanding of priority habitats and species and the commonly used habitat classification systems.

You will be well organised, self-motivated and have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of people.

A full driving licence and own vehicle is essential as you will be representing the organisation at external meetings. This is a full time post of 35 hours per week although part-time hours might be available for the right candidate. The post holder will need to be able to travel to Bickley Hall Farm, Bickley, SY14 8EF, with the option of also using our offices at Thornton-le-Moors and Wildboarclough
