Principal Resonsibility

Reporting to the Force Executive, the role will lead on and contribute to the preparation, implementation and monitoring of an overarching sustainability and carbon reduction strategy for Devon & Cornwall Police.

  • Leading on the development and delivery of a range of climate change and sustainability related strategies, plans and policies to reduce the Force’s carbon footprint and improve its sustainability, ensuring the Force takes steps to ensure ISO 14001 accreditation is achieved and maintained
  • Proactively collect, analyse and evaluate energy data
  • Developing reports and papers to direct and embed strategies and inform appropriate parties
  • Undertaking detailed project planning, including financial management and forecasting, and developing related policies and sustainable working practices to influence organisational change and carbon reduction
  • Managing stakeholders internally and externally throughout projects, producing consolidated reporting and analytics to the Executive and other key stakeholders as required to influence decisions
  • Developing communications and promotions strategies linked to sustainability and carbon reduction, as the subject matter expert, in liaison with Corporate Communications and Engagement to shape organisational thinking
  • Managing agreements, contracts and project delivery as they relate to carbon reduction/sustainability with partners and stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and assess activity undertaken, monitoring and producing reports to the Environmental and Sustainability Group on progress against identified objectives and overarching strategies
  • Writing business cases and strategic papers linked to carbon reduction methods. In particular the Environmental and Sustainability Strategy.
  • Formulating and maintaining an up to date sustainability carbon reduction policy, in liaison with appropriate key internal and external stakeholders
  • Working in full partnership with sustainability forums, both internally and externally, to develop a community to respond to climate change concerns
  • Monitor and identify appropriate funding and spend, linked to specific projects
  • Representing the Force as the subject matter expert at relevant meetings, both internally and externally

Salary:

The commencing salary will be within Grade 10 starting at £45,909 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £50,103 per annum.
