Are you a sharp and engaged flood risk professional looking for a new challenge? Are you looking to develop your skills and knowledge further whilst working on crucial projects in the borough? 

We are seeking someone with a sound background in flood risk management, particularly in sustainable drainage and Lead Local Flood Authority statutory duties to join the Transport Development team as a Senior Flood Risk Officer.  

The role will be varied and exciting, with an opportunity to contribute to all aspects of supporting the authority in managing its statutory flood risk management duties within the borough. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with experience in reviewing sustainable drainage plans as part of the development management process, and willing to get involved in developing and processing new projects.  

The post will be offered as a Full-time 24 Month fixed term contract. We are also happy to consider applicants who may be looking to undertake part-time working and are happy to consider alongside the successful applicant as to the working arrangements of how the role is delivered The applicant will work within the Transport Development team, but will focus on the delivery of flood risk management, and collaborate with our Local Levy funded Environment Agency officers. The successful applicant will also have an opportunity to support and feed into an array of work within the Place Directorate to help the Council deliver its ambitious agenda.  

Key elements of the job will be:  

  • Supporting the authority in delivering its Statutory LLFA duties;
  • Reviewing and advising on Sustainable Drainage matters as part of the Development Management process;
  • Issuing Watercourse and Land drainage consents, and any other relevant consents;
  • Leading collaboration with key stakeholders including the Environment Agency, water companies, neighbouring LLFA’s and the boroughs residents;
  • Supporting flood risk related investigations and maintaining the relationship with landowners and stakeholders affected;
  • Working to develop flood management schemes and engaging with key funding partners; and
  • Help support the development of any statutory strategic policy documentation.
