GCN-licensed Ecologists and Assistant Ecologists (available for immediate hire)

Fixed term and permanent contracts available. Subcontractor agreements also will be considered.

Are you hard-working and practical with a professional work ethic? Do you love the outdoors, ecology and the environment?

The role

We have multiple, time-sensitive opportunities for GCN-licence holding Ecologists and Assistant Ecologists to help support our terrestrial ecology teams throughout the UK. We are particularly keen to hear from those who hold a GCN survey licence and have previous experience on mitigation works.

This is a great opportunity to further develop your mitigation techniques in a range of species and habitats, as well as gaining more experience of working in a busy independent environmental consultancy.

Ideal candidates will be available for immediate hire (or a short notice period), have a car, full UK driving licence and be willing to travel and stay away from home, as required. Accommodation and mileage will be paid for, and a generous subsistence allowance will be given when staying away from home. We have a preference for Birmingham-based candidates but candidates located within 1 hours commute from any of our offices (Birmingham, Cardiff, Guildford or Leeds) will be considered.

Successful candidates will have

  • a GCN protected species survey licence
  • experience of ecological survey and GCN mitigation work
  • a degree in ecology or a related field, or suitable relevant experience
  • the right to work in the UK
  • a valid driving licence and vehicle, insured for business use
  • availability to attend mandatory training in advance of start date
  • the ability to travel and stay away at survey sites in various locations around the country
  • confidence to work independently, and as part of a team
  • self-motivation with the ability to learn quickly

Ideally, successful candidates will also have the following

  • membership to the Chartered Institute of Ecological and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
  • a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card
  • First Aid at Work certification
