Global Generation has an established network of urban gardens in Camden and a satellite garden in Southwark. Our work is focused on the development of the whole person, providing support for young people to become catalysts for change in their communities.

We are now based in our new Story Garden at the British Library. In addition to the Story Garden, we also design, create and maintain gardens with local schools and community groups as well as local restaurants and businesses in King’s Cross Estate and at Regents Place commercial campus in Euston. This commercial aspect of our work is important, bringing unrestricted income to the organisation, but also helps us build relationships with businesses across the Kings Cross Estate, opening up further opportunities for collaborative work and opportunities for young people and the local community to get involved and learn new skills.

We are looking for an experienced gardener who is passionate about urban gardening and amenity horticulture. As a Global Generation Gardener, you will be responsible for maintaining planting schemes in our community of gardens, including the commercial and public realm across Kings Cross and Euston from March to the end of October 2020. The role is physical, and involves lots of walking and lifting of watering cans so we require someone who is physically fit and proactive.

As an amenity horticulture expert, you will be caring for a wide range of container planting at Regents Place and the Kings Cross estate . Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance of public realm planting to a high standard. This will include irrigation, soil care and feeding a wide range of plants in different settings including office terraces, café and retail gardens and community residential gardens.
  • Work with the team to install new gardens and help to develop new designs and management plans.
  • Attend meetings as required and contribute to our vision of gardens and planting in public places.
  • Report weekly any issues arising or concerns about planting.
