We are seeking two Seasonal Ecologists, one to be based in our Bedford office and one in our Woodbridge office. Work undertaken will typically include:

  • extended Phase 1 habitat survey and some assessment;
  • protected species survey and assessment;
  • reptile and newt translocation; and
  • working on site with contractors.

It will be of benefit to your application if you have all or most of the following:

  • graduate or qualifying membership of CIEEM;
  • a degree in a relevant discipline;
  • one or more protected species survey licences, e.g. great crested newts or bats;
  • experience and ability to carry out Phase 1 habitat surveys with reasonable botanical skills (e.g. FISC Level 2 or above); and
  • experience and ability to survey the commoner protected species such as reptiles and badgers

A driving licence and the availability of a car to travel to project sites is essential.

Applicants should be self-motivated, flexible, organised, good at working both independently and as part of a team, and be able to deliver work to a high standard. We expect you to be able to work to reasonable deadlines, prioritise workloads and have good written skills. Good verbal communication skills, a flexible approach to work and taking proportionate responsibility are important.

The position is full time only within the period from Easter to end September 2020. If you would prefer a different working arrangement, please state your preference in your application. We would consider part-time or flexible working.
