Job Description

Environment Bank is a small but dynamic environmental company in search of a Business Manager to join our team and help us as we undergo an exciting period of growth and be responsible for continuing the professionalisation of our daily business practices.

The ideal candidate will have a previous experience in a similar role and have a good understanding of office administration, social media, customer services, payroll and book keeping.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a “front of house” presence either at our office in York , over the telephone or via email.
  • Carry out book keeping activity-, including raising invoices, producing basic financial reports to assist cash flow and budget management.
  • Manage social media and other marketing activity
  • Provide support to the board and Managing Director by taking minutes, providing basic financial and staff utilisation reports.
  • To manage schedules, agendas, and minutes and monitor progress against actions for staff meetings

There will be opportunities for the right candidate to expand their role within the team

Biodiversity net gain (BNG) is being mandated through the planning system (in the Environment Bill) such that all development will shortly be required to ensure BNG is delivered in order to secure planning permission, and we are now expanding to ready ourselves for this excited period.

Skills and Qualifications

A successful candidate will have:.

  • Experience as a business manager or similar relevant role
  • A genuine enthusiasm for sustainability and the environment in the UK
  • An organised approach to work, flexibility and a high level of motivation
  • Excellent internal and external customer service with good communication, both written and verbal

Knowledge or experience across a range of the following would be an advantage:

  • Experience with financial and budgetary processes
  • Ability to identify, design and embed new administrative and business systems, policies and processes
  • Experience of developing and/or maintaining procedures and data management systems for reporting and monitoring purposes.
  • Strong capabilities with database and information systems software
  • Knowledge of HR processes
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people.
  • Advanced Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, and report formatting.
  • Knowledge with GDPR and procedures for ensuring organisational compliance
  • Knowledge of health and safety management and reporting
