In the Natural Economy space, our objective is to be influential in supporting policy and the development of mechanisms that unlock investment in natural capital and enhance biodiversity.

Job description

We invite applicants to join a growing Natural Economy team. You will work closely with Eunomia’s Chairman and Natural Economy Lead to provide senior input into economic/policy projects and bids across a range of areas. You will develop strong client relationships and pro-actively create business opportunities drawing on resources and expertise from across the business. You will be involved in cutting edge project delivery and the development of bids to support governments, companies and local authorities in designing more effective policies and mechanisms to enhance natural capital and biodiversity. This will include; identifying innovative approaches that maximise benefits, assessing new policy proposals, informing investment decisions and building business cases for investment.

Relevant knowledge and experience would include; agricultural finance, environmental land management, private financing mechanisms and public private partnerships. We would expect the successful candidate to have demonstrable and relevant expertise in a number of areas of economic analysis, with the ability to learn quickly about our work, and apply existing knowledge in new ways.

You will be an inspiring leader for your area, a recognised technical expert, and an exceptional communicator. You will be comfortable handling a large and varied workload under pressure whilst simultaneously managing a number of key client relationships. You need to be able to work as part of small teams and to have good interpersonal skills, allowing you to interface with other team members in a manner that allows your tasks to be delivered efficiently and effectively in the context of the team’s wider work. A personal interest in, and commitment to, environmental and sustainability issues is expected.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of leading projects in natural capital, environmental, agricultural and/or resource economics, with a track record of delivering to time, budget and client satisfaction.
  • Expert technical understanding of economic instruments used in environmental policy and an aptitude for thinking outside of the box to consider novel policy / financial instruments.
  • Experience of applying a wide range of economic tools and approaches such as: business case development; financial cost modelling; environmental/ natural capital accounting; environmental valuation; cost-benefit and cost-effectiveness analysis; or impact assessments.
  • Demonstrable experience of applying understanding of economics, and an ability to draw upon, and apply, a wide range of economics tools to new situations and contexts using creative, practical and common sense thinking to solve real-world problems.
  • Strong client relationships complementary to Eunomia’s existing network.


  • An existing sales pipeline of opportunities appropriate to Eunomia’s business.
  • Demonstrable experience of highly effective leadership and/or growing a team/ department with its own income generation.


Competitive salary depending on qualifications and experience.

London based staff will receive an additional £3,000 in accordance with Eunomia’s London Weighting Allowance policy.

Holiday Entitlement

24 days per year (plus Bank Holidays) rising by 1 day each year to a maximum of 30 days per year. Employees have the opportunity to buy up to an additional 5 days annual leave per year, each year.
