Post: Biologist with the River Dee Trust (RDT), based on Deeside (Aberdeenshire), who will be responsible for the research and monitoring programmes carried out by the Trust. The post is a challenging and significant one as it will guide the fisheries management of one of Scotland’s major rivers. This will include monitoring fish populations, analysing data to inform restoration programmes and communicating the information to stakeholders. 

The post will attract a salary of £25-30,000, commensurate with experience and with annual review thereafter. 

Us: The RDT is a charitable River Trust whose remit includes the provision of scientific services for the fisheries, conservation, and education to the wider community throughout the Dee catchment, leading to environmental protection and improvement of the river and riparian habitats. You: You have strong scientific skills, are an excellent communicator, and able to work independently and within our small team. You have a passion for the natural environment and are enthusiastic about the application of science to understand and protect the river Dee and its fish stocks. You hold a post-graduate qualification or equivalent in a biological or environmental discipline and are excellent at planning and delivering monitoring and experimental studies in the field. You have a minimum of two years’ experience of working in a similar field and demonstrate practical research skills.
