The John Muir Award, the main engagement initiative of the John Muir Trust, is a leading environmental award scheme focused on wild places. With support from Scottish Natural Heritage and Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Authority, we are recruiting a Scotland Project Officer. This post will build on a six-year partnership with the National Park and join an existing staff team to promote and develop the John Muir Award throughout Scotland. This will be a one year fixed term full-time post (with anticipated continued funding).

The post-holder will manage and increase John Muir Award activity in Scotland, primarily with schools but also through the informal education sector. The role will be part of a team meeting specific Scottish Natural Heritage and Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park targets, and developing further links with the Scottish curriculum and learning sector.

Applicants must have understanding of formal and informal education systems in Scotland and how these link with the outdoor and environmental sectors, as well as experience of effective working in partnership with a range of organisations and individuals. A flexible approach, strong organisational and interpersonal skills, self-motivation and an ability to work without direct supervision are essential for the post.
