About us

Ashtead Common and Coulsdon Common (Merlewood) are two of seven open spaces on the borders of South London and Surrey that are managed by the City of London Corporation. A vital part of our cultural and natural heritage, they offer a wide range of education, volunteer and leisure activities such as school visits, wildlife surveys and guided walks.

The role

Looking after these special places and helping the public get the best from them takes good organisation. From dealing with correspondence and managing bookings to keeping basic financial records, you’ll ensure everything runs smoothly. You’ll also be a key point of contact for members of the public, volunteers and contractors. Working across two sites, you’ll be at Merlewood Estate Office in Caterham, Monday to Thursday (9.00am – 2.00pm) and Ashtead Estate Office on a Friday (9.00am – 4.30pm). Occasionally you’ll work from our other estate offices and travel to Guildhall in London.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is well organised, with a keen interest in the environment. Sound experience of working in an administrative role, ideally providing support to a small team, is essential. You’ll demonstrate good attention to detail, and strong customer care and communication skills. Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and a full UK driving licence are also required.
