Old Chalk New Downs Conservation Trainee

Starting salary £20,222 pro rata | Fixed Term for 9 months, Part Time, 22.2 hours per week

If you are looking to gain more experience in the conservation sector and increase your knowledge of the natural environment, Kent County Council is offering the opportunity to be part of an exciting Heritage Lottery funded project. This ambitious initiative not only looks to restore, expand and link up fragmented chalk downland habitats across 10,000ha of North Kent, it also aims to reconnect the local community with this iconic landscape and you could play an important part in delivering this whilst learning.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person with excellent interpersonal skills to assist the team in delivering a combination of office and practical tasks. Some of the work includes assisting the team in carrying out habitat surveys, organising events, processing data, promoting the project through social media, etc. You will need to have a keen interest in nature conservation, attention to detail and be willing to work outdoors in all weathers.

Working with us has advantages including flexible working hours, access to Local Authority Pension Scheme and support with professional development.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
