Job Purpose and Background

CDP is looking for a senior project manager to work with our global climate team to manage projects on the role of the Energy sector in the low-carbon transition.

The Paris Agreement has set a clear direction of travel for the economy in decades to come. In order to keep global warming well-below 2°C, we need to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in the next three to five decades. The combustion of fossil fuels represents the single largest source of carbon dioxide emissions to which the Oil & Gas industry contributes significantly. It is also one of the largest contributors of methane emissions. On the other hand, the oil&gas industry is holder of considerable scientific, technical, economical and financial assets that can provide significant contributions to the low-carbon transition.

The successful applicant will work within CDP´s Climate Team managing CDP´s workstream on the Oil & Gas Sector and the transition to a zero-carbon economy, which will develop science-based target setting and Assessing low-Carbon Transition methodologies for the Oil&Gas sector, as well as coordinate a series of high-level engagement activities with policy makers and investors. It will also oversee other Energy related projects within the CDP science-based targets team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Project managing the development and delivery of CDP’s Oil&Gas transition workstream;
  • Coordination of staff across different CDP teams and coordination with external partners;
  • Co-facilitating industry working groups, consultations and managing key stakeholder relationships;
  • Presenting to internal and external stakeholders at conferences and events;
  • Engaging with relevant sector focused initiatives;
  • Organize webinars, workshops and other events;
  • Supporting fundraising proposals;
  • Writing and proof-reading reporting guidance and other technical documents.

Required skills and experience:

  • Excellent written and oral communication in English;
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills that promote cohesion and team work; timeliness and efficiency;
  • Good analytical skills and knowledge of how to manipulate data in common tools;
  • Experience of working within the energy sector with the private sector, ideally from the fossil fuel sector
  • Confident and capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in teams;
  • Ability to work independently and precisely under pressure, be proactive and set priorities;
  • Demonstrates a high level of dedication, flexibility and resilience.

This is a full-time role based at CDP’s London office.
