Urban Biodiversity and Resilience Officer

30 month fixed-term post based in Edinburgh

Full Time

Starting salary £30,652 (band D)

The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is one of the world’s top four botanic gardens based on the quality, breadth and depth of our science, plant collections, public engagement and education.

We are excited to offer a thirty month fixed term post based in RBGE’s Science Division. Applicants should have a track-record of research and funding success that addresses plant and/or fungal biodiversity conservation relevant to climate change adaptation, clearly emphasising practical outcomes and benefits to individuals and society.

Specifically, the post holder will research and implement nature based solutions to the climate emergency, with a focus on urban greenspace. They will work to deliver RBGE’s contribution to the Edinburgh Living Landscape Project, by leading on actions that enhance biodiversity to improve the ecological and social functions of urban greenspace and grey infrastructure. Working across Science and Horticultural Divisions, they will develop the RBGE as a hub for demonstrating climate change adaptation. The post-holder will use these platforms to conduct hypothesis-led research and will be expected to take full advantage of opportunities to secure external funding.

Full details of the post including a job description and person specification can be found on our website www.rbge.org.uk/about-us/vacancies.

Interested applicants should send a CV and covering letter outlining the skills and experience you could bring to the post, along with a completed equal opportunities questionnaire, to recruitment@rbge.org.uk by noon on Friday 31th January 2020.

If you have not heard from us within 2 weeks of the closing date please assume that your application has not been shortlisted on this occasion.
