Technical Manager:

Salary: £30,549 (0.8 FTE £38,187) 
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 4 days per week
Location: Bristol, with some international travel

Senior Technical Officer:

Salary: £27,761
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Location: Bristol, with some international travel

Soil Association Certification Limited (SACL) is a leading certification body for forestry worldwide and organic food and farming in the UK. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Soil Association, a leading environmental charity working for positive change in nature, our climate and health.

The Forestry department has offered certification to FSC® and PEFC™ schemes for sustainable forest management and chain of custody globally for over 20 years. We are also active in providing a number of other certification schemes and training programmes in the forestry sector

About the opportunity

We have a growing team of forestry staff, including a team delivering training internationally, and a global network of auditors and certificate holders. We are now recruiting and welcome interest from highly motivated individuals with suitable qualifications and experience to join the Technical team.

The Technical team provide an essential technical service to employees, auditors and customers of Soil Association Certification for all its forestry schemes world-wide, providing guidance to certification staff and auditors in operational delivery, and working with key external stakeholders on technical issues. The Team supports delivery of our accreditation requirements and includes an element of training to staff and auditors.

About you

The successful candidate will have degree in forestry, wood science, ecology, environment or a related discipline and/or considerable practical experience in one or more of these fields. Knowledge of certification, quality systems and accreditation, and knowledge of the content and implementation of standards in the forestry sector/experience leading audits are an advantage, as is experience in training delivery.
