About the London National Park City

The National Park City Foundation has led the campaign for London to become the world’s first National Park City and has set the vision, brand and tone for the London National Park City. London National Park City is a movement to improve life in London.

It will mean residents, visitors and partners working together to:

  • Enjoy London’s great outdoors more
  • Make the city greener, healthier and wilder
  • Promote London’s identity as a National Park City

We want more bird song, more clean air, more ultimate frisbee, more tree climbing, more sharing, more cycling, more hedgehogs, more volunteering, more hill-rolling, more outdoor play, more kayaking, more otters, greener streets, more outdoor learning, more ball games, more outdoor art and yes, more dancing in the city. Why not?

You can discover more about the London National Park City on the National Park City website.

We are in the process of recruiting 50 London National Park City Rangers, supported by hip hop musician Loyle Carner and backed by outdoor fashion leaders Timberland, to help make life in London better. You can read more about the programme here:

We expect Ranger recruitment to be completed by the end of February, training to be run in March and April 2020 and for the Ranger programme to go live in late April 2020.

To support this volunteer programme, we are also recruiting two or three paid part-time Ranger Coordinators.

The coordinators will be the first port of call for our Rangers. As a Coordinator you will buy into our vision for the Ranger programme and bring the experience and energy necessary to make the network a great success.

What are we looking for?

We specifically want to hire more than one person to provide a level of resilience and balance, so our Rangers always have someone they can reach. Therefore, you will need to be comfortable working as part of a very tight team, you will need to be open and transparent in your communications to maintain coordination, and to ensure others can cover your work when you’re not around.

You’ll need to be friendly and supportive to all of our Rangers and encourage new and exciting projects all over London.

You’ll be organised and methodical to enable you to maintain contact with all Rangers, manage budgets, deliver monthly reports and help plan and deliver events. Equally, you’ll also need to be agile and creative to spot opportunities to grow and enhance our programme. We are a young, exciting and ambitious new charity and opportunities are popping-up all the time, perhaps through new partnerships or a new media lead. You will need to have an eye for detail and be able to respond to new or changing circumstances.
