Would you like to work in one of England’s finest landscapes and an internationally acclaimed World Heritage Site? We are looking for a Trees and Woodlands Officer to deliver the Authority’s regulatory functions for trees and hedgerows, and to provide professional advice and management services for trees and woodlands that the Authority owns and manages.

You would be based in the vibrant market town of Kendal, with the spectacular landscapes and experiences of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks on your doorstep.

The role:

Working in our Development Management team, you will manage tree and hedgerow casework – including the preparation and service of Tree Preservation Orders, the assessment of TPOs, conservation area and hedgerow applications, and the investigation and enforcement of alleged offences in relation to trees and hedgerows. You would provide tree and woodland advice to colleagues. You would provide responses on behalf of the Authority to felling and planting consultations from the Forestry Commission and others. Working closely with our Property Services team, you would also oversee tree health and safety on our property, procuring tree safety inspections and works from contractors, and supporting the management of our woodlands.

37 hours per week: 3 days with the Development Management team, 2 days with the Property Services team

30 hours per week: 3 days with the Development Management team, 1 day with the Property Services team

About you:

As well as being an experienced and qualified tree professional, you will be highly organised, used to dealing with a range of tasks and deadlines, balancing relevant considerations, and reaching well-reasoned conclusions. You will be a great communicator and able negotiator, who cares about sustaining the future of a living and working spectacular landscape.
