Would you like to help enhance one of Britain’s most treasured landscapes, alongside passionate and committed colleagues and enjoy an unrivalled quality of life?

Are you a strong communicator, who enjoys working within a busy multi-disciplinary team, and has a keen eye for detail?

We are currently looking to appoint an Assistant Policy Officer within our Forward Planning and Economy Team.

The Work: You’ll be an enthusiastic graduate with an interest in planning and the environment. You’ll be working in a team with a broad remit from housing delivery and economic development, to environmental planning, supporting and helping deliver the Local Plan and Management Plan for a nationally important landscape. You’ll need strong analytical, research and report writing skills, and will work hard to understand Dartmoor so that you have the knowledge and skills to support policy development. You’ll be rewarded with a diverse and challenging work-load which will improve your career prospects.

The Play: We are a sociable bunch who like the outdoors. Our staff are avid conservationists, walkers, horse-riders, sailors, surfers… and bakers.

The Benefits: Our staff are passionate and committed. They have a wealth of specialist knowledge, from archaeology and historic buildings to farming, ecology and recreation management, all of them will be there to learn from and support you in your role. And where we don’t have the skills you need to progress your career we can support you in relevant qualifications and training programmes.

With flexi-time you can achieve an envious work-life balance in one of the most beautiful locations in the UK. You will also benefit from the fixed benefit Local Government Pension scheme and the cycle to work scheme

Finally, you’ll be based in our stunning headquarters on the National Trust’s Parke estate, with an on-site café and riverside trails for lunchtime walks.

If you wish to discuss this post further, please contact Dan Janota, Head of Forward Planning and Economy, on 01626 832093.
