Could you help raise the UK’s ambition ahead of the 2020 climate COP and get the UK on track to net zero?

Climate Change is the most significant challenge in our lifetime. Green Alliance’s Cutting Carbon Now programme is advocating for immediate action across the UK to drastically reduce the UK’s contribution to climate change. We are aligning the environment sector to get the Government on track to meeting its climate targets. The UK’s hosting of COP26 is a unique opportunity to bring the sector together and generate new policy commitments from the government. By getting ambitious and effective domestic policies in place and showing how these act as a blueprint for faster decarbonisation across the world, the UK can show global leadership in addressing climate change.

Green Alliance is looking for an outstanding policy adviser to help us devise strategies and contribute to the thinking on substantive decarbonisation challenges, as well as deliver our ambitious plans for the COP in November 2020. You will need to be an experienced researcher and, more importantly, have the ability to network and build relationships with politicians, environmental NGOs, and other stakeholders in order to help secure support for our projects and policy proposals. As well as a genuine interest in climate politics, you will have excellent project planning and delivery skills and be an effective communicator.

We are an independent think tank and advocate, committed to achieving a greener future in today’s complex political environment. We play a central role in shaping the environment, energy and resource agendas and are known for the clarity of our insights and cross-party influence. Cutting Carbon Now is one of a portfolio of climate and energy projects underway at Green Alliance and draws on our thinking on climate leadership, electric vehicles and retro-fitting housing amongst others, as well as work being undertaken by other organisations.
