Get your first web development experience in a small company with huge potential. Working on Easy-PV - our collection of online tools for designing solar PV systems - you will gain experience in all aspects of web development, from efficient database management and server backend handling, to cutting-edge client-side code, integrating third-party APIs, and clean, stylish CSS.

Who we are

We're mainly a distributor of Photo Voltaic (PV) components, and most of our staff operate forklifts rather than keyboards. But on the side we've developed Easy-PV - an online set of graphical tools to design solar PV systems - and the site has huge potential. Our aim is to make it easy-peasy for solar installers to specify components for solar PV arrays, carry out electrical and structural calculations, make financial projections for a system, and produce schematic drawings. The tool is geared to the UK market, and a high proportion of UK solar installers already use it regularly. We have three other live versions: International, Ireland, and a custom version for a large energy company. Solar is gaining traction throughout the world, and there is a rapidly growing global market for solar design tools which we are perfectly positioned to serve. There are also exciting opportunities in using third party satellite imagery, irradiation datasets and 3D libraries to make the software even more powerful.

Who we’re looking for

You’re naturally talented at coding, and you want a career that will make a difference. Disappearing into a large organisation or doing the same thing every day doesn't appeal - you'd like to put your skills to use to make the planet greener as well as earn your keep.

You’re ambitious, and prepared to get stuck in to make a company you believe in grow.

Coding ability is essential - you need to be good! As this is a junior developer position we don't insist on experience in any particular language or tools but you'll need to be able to learn on the job rapidly if you don't have experience of html, css, PHP and javascript.

What it offers

You'll be joining a small team, so you'll get early responsibility for developing new tools for the site, and the work you will do will immediately make a difference. As well as the software tools we also run a warehouse distributing components for solar PV systems, so you will be sharing a dynamic, busy office with the sales staff. There’s a friendly and informal atmosphere, and a real buzz when things get busy.

The position is initially for a year, with a salary of £26k. There is the possibility of a long-term position being offered at the end of the contract. Although we're advertising for a junior position, we'd also be interested in applicants who already have web development experience - a higher wage will be negotiable in that case.

Please complete the application form here before the 18th of November. If you have any questions before applying, please email us at We can be flexible with start dates.
