Climate Emergency Manager
Up to £60,000 per annum – 37 hours per week
Permanent, based in Cirencester

About the role…

Are you an experienced professional who understands the Climate Emergency and has a track record of driving change? Passionate about making a difference? Keen to work for an ambitious local authority that is putting tackling the Climate Emergency at the heart of its work?

Then look no further! Cotswold District Council are seeking to appoint a Climate Emergency Manager, to drive forward our ambition to become a Carbon Neutral District. For our own estate, you will maximise opportunities for emissions reduction, encouraging behavioural and policy change, and facilitating investment including fleet, renewables, green energy procurement and buildings energy management, and supporting the overhaul of our local plan. But just as crucially, you will lead the development of our action plans and strategies to bring the district with us on this journey, driving a programme of district-wide leadership and stakeholder engagement, accessing funding, and using all levers of influence that a local authority can to create radical change for our area.

You will need…

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience
  • A demonstrable understanding of the climate emergency and supporting evidence
  • Familiarity with project management approaches and tools
  • Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts
  • A good understanding of the development of local plans and planning policy system
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies
