Risk & Policy Analysts Limited (RPA) is a consultancy with an established reputation and proven expertise in the fields of UK & EU policy, economics, environment, chemicals and sustainability. Our Environment team work in a highly diverse sector, providing public sector programme reviews and evaluations.

We are currently looking for a suitably qualified consultant to join our environment team in a senior position. In this role you will be expected to identify and successfully bid for competitive tender opportunities, project and team manage, and provide technical expertise. As a project manager you will be expected to manage the day to day activities of several projects at any one time, including client liaison, progress tracking and invoicing. You will also be responsible for up to two direct reports, providing support and career development. You will be able to work as a key part of the Environment team and the wider RPA multi-disciplinary teams as required. On a technical level, you will be expected to have industry specific knowledge (for example, UK and/or EU legislation such as the Water Framework Directive, Habitats Directive, the Agriculture Bill and Defra’s 25 Year Environment Plan), be able to develop and apply innovative methodologies, and undertake qualitative and quantitative analysis. Good written and verbal communications skills will be essential for producing clear technical reports and assisting with stakeholder engagement.

Essential candidate attributes include:

  • 6+ years professional experience within environmental consultancy (or equivalent role or sector);
  • Experience of carrying out evaluations or reviews drawing on both quantitative and qualitative evidence;
  • Familiarity with environmental topics such as natural capital accounting, ecosystem services, natural resource issues, and environmental economics;
  • Ability to develop innovative methodologies to meet clients’ needs;
  • Team and project management experience; and
  • Excellent written English (other language skills would also be an advantage).

You will be primarily office-based in Norfolk, although site visits and client meetings will be required. The salary is in the range £32,000 - £42,000 p.a., dependent on experience. The role is advertised as a full-time role but applications for part-time working will also be considered. The package of benefits includes:
