Waste & Recycling Surveyor Team Leader – £10.00 per hour

Contract: Casual contract until 20 December (with possible extension)

Location: Across the Borough of Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes Council is working with Keep Britain Tidy to undertake a survey of all properties in the borough to assess their suitability for wheeled bins. This is with the aim of implementing a change in the waste and recycling service which improves the service for residents and collection crews.

The survey is already underway and we are looking for additional full time and part time Waste & Recycling Surveyors and Team Leaders to join the existing team. We are aiming to complete the survey by Christmas, but there may be the possibility of an extension.

For part time positions, we are looking for a minimum commitment of two days per week, Monday to Sunday, for 8 hours per day including half an hour break. Full time positions will involve five days of surveying either Monday to Friday, or to include weekends. We can work around the availability of quality candidates. Team Leaders are expected to work an additional half an hour each day to plan and coordinate the team’s activity for the next day and liaise with the Project Manager.

The successful applicants will have an interest in and understanding of the environmental and waste sectors, and the ability and willingness to undertake surveying work in an outdoor environment using handheld devices for data recording.

These positions will provide sought-after experience for those looking for a career in the environmental sector, especially the waste and recycling industry, and are paid at or above the Real Living Wage. In joining this project you also have the opportunity of joining our Bank of Casual Workers, through which further employment may be available at the end of this contract.

Full training will be provided on dates to be confirmed according to the availability of new cohorts of Waste & Recycling Surveyors.
