Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Analyst at an exciting time to be working in energy regulation.

Change is happening quickly in the energy sector. Our Systems & Networks division is currently managing over £11billion of investment in the gas distribution network, which provides energy for millions of homes. To help facilitate the move to a low carbon energy sector, the way we regulate needs to evolve. You will help to work on policy to ensure the gas distribution network companies play a key role in this, whilst ensuring that they are providing safe, secure and high quality gas at value for money to consumers. There is the scope to lead decision-making, engage in formulating solutions and setting the next gas distribution price control.

This represents a significant opportunity to build your expertise and your understanding of the economic regulation of networks. You must be educated to degree level, with experience of analysing, understanding and utilising data, concepts and models as part of a strategy development process. You must have the capability to grasp technical concepts and untangle complexities, as well as the determination to be proactive in everything you do: take the initiative, think creatively and drive your own work forward. Experience of environmental policy and/or project management would be ideal.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:

  • Up to 30 days’ annual leave
  • Excellent training and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
  • Flexible working hours and family friendly policies
  • Subsidised gym
  • Interest free season ticket loan
  • Rental deposit scheme
  • Perkbox (staff discount scheme)
  • Employee Wellbeing Programme.
