TCV has secured funding for a Senior Project Officer based in Dundee to deliver the Natural Health Project. The Senior Project Officer will set up and deliver green health activities based around the structure of TCV’s Green Gym. Green Gym is an innovative programme developed by TCV to transform people’s mental and physical health through participation in outdoor, group-based and physically challenging volunteering activities that improve community greenspaces for the wider public benefit. Establishing a new green health project will involve liaising with partners and landowners to identify suitable locations, developing a programme of weekly activities, recruiting and leading volunteers, delivering engaging sessions and monitoring the impact of the project.

As well as delivering green health activities at key urban greenspace sites, the Senior Project will work with local community groups to support them to deliver their own activities. This will include delivering training, sharing best practice and facilitating networking opportunities in order to build capacity to deliver green health opportunities within the community.

The Senior Project Officer will work closely with partners involved in the delivery of Dundee’s Green Health Partnership including Dundee City Council and NHS Tayside. There are four Green Health Partnerships in Scotland which form part of a wider programme of work called ‘Our Natural Health Service’. Led by Scottish Natural Heritage, Our Natural Health Service will show how Scotland’s natural environment is a resource that can be used to help tackle some of our key health issues.

As part of the Natural Health project there will also be a Senior Project Officer based in North Ayrshire delivering similar green health programmes and activities and supporting the delivery of the North Ayrshire Green Health Partnership. Learning will be shared between the two project areas.

The project is funded by The Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and is offered as a full time, 2 year, fixed term contract.
