You will lead the delivery of NERC’s £90m portfolio of National Capability investments in: long-term, large-scale environmental research and monitoring; community services including access to large research infrastructure, services, facilities and data; provision of national and public good services such as advice and response to environmental emergencies. You will lead a team of around 12 staff and draw upon relevant environmental science domain experts from across NERC Head Office.

You will be responsible for the planning, delivery and resources for relevant UKRI-NERC priorities and outcomes, and for providing evidence of successful delivery. You will also devote time, energy and skill to provide individual and collective leadership within NERC, across UKRI, and among external stakeholders.

You will need:

  • Deep knowledge and experience of relevant UKRI-NERC strategy, business, policy, expert domains and stakeholders, including National Capability activities, services, policy, processes, users and providers.
  • Credibility with relevant stakeholder communities and to be able to build and maintain strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent leadership and change management skills

The role will involve some UK travel with the possibility of an occasional international visit.
