Our Team

The Planning & Environment department within Natural Power is made up of a diverse range of ecologists, hydrologists and planners with considerable technical experience and expertise. We are looking to recruit an Environmental Consultant into our office in Inverness to support on ecological aspects of environmental projects in northern Scotland.  

We are a forward thinking, collaborative and open team who encourage individuals to maximise their potential. Through these mechanisms we enable individuals to contribute towards the success and targets required of the department. The Inverness office consists of a small but dynamic team of consultants and is located 10 minutes outside of Inverness, close to the banks of Loch Ness, that offers stunning views and opportunities to explore the outdoors.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Undertake ornithological and other ecological surveys as required on all project phases
  • Prepare and provide written technical reports
  • Support senior staff on environmental issues in relation to renewable projects, during all project phases
  • Work may require anti-social hours and travelling to survey sites across Scotland

  • Flexibility: A reasonable degree of flexibility is required from all employees to meet the needs of the role, the department and the wider company

Qualifications and Experience 


  • Degree qualified to BSc level or equivalent in an environmental, biological or ecological discipline
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role, including but not limited to conducting standard ornithological surveys 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills being able to build meaningful relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Exceptional communication skills being able to convey clear and concise information in both written and verbal format 
  • Self motivated and flexible with your time and standard duties
  • Due to the nature of the role a full drivers’ licence is required


  • Degree qualified to MSc, PhD level or equivalent in a biological, environmental or ecological discipline. 
  • Previous experience in renewables and/or grid developments
