Senior Manager – Systems & Networks

London: £46,250 - £57,975

Glasgow: £43,650 - £53,825

Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.

Our Systems and Networks division takes an end-to-end view of the energy system, including the markets, networks and institutions involved in providing power and gas to consumers. As a Senior Manager in the Electricity Network Access and Charging team, you will either lead on developing a particular policy area or lead our overarching analytical workstream within our project to reform Network Access and Forward-looking Charges, a major review that aims to incentivise network users to use our electricity networks efficiently. This is a rapidly evolving environment, so you must be able to prioritise and manage a varied and time-sensitive workload as well as lead on, and co-ordinate, project work across the team and beyond.

Drawing on your experience of analysing quantitative and qualitative information in support of robust, evidence-based conclusions and recommendations on technical policy areas, you will help to deliver proposals to support the transition to a low carbon energy system at least cost to consumers. Experience of developing impact assessments would be particularly beneficial for the analytical workstream. Credible, authoritative and engaging, you will manage a diverse range of stakeholder relationships, representing Ofgem externally where necessary. There may be opportunities to work on aspects of other projects, to improve your knowledge of the energy sector and gain exposure to the interesting and varied work undertaken across the organisation. We expect you to be degree-qualified or hold equivalent credentials or experience.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:

  • Up to 30 days’ annual leave
  • Excellent training and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
  • Flexible working hours and family friendly policies
  • Subsidised gym
  • Interest free season ticket loan
  • Rental deposit scheme
  • Perkbox (staff discount scheme)
  • Employee Wellbeing Programme.
