Do you want to shape the way that parks and green spaces are managed in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough?

Can you motivate and co-ordinate partners to bring about transformational change?

If yes then this exciting opportunity to be the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Future Parks Accelerator Programme Manager is for you!

The Future Parks Programme is a new national strategic initiative from the National Trust, the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government. Working with Cambridgeshire’s Local Nature Partnership, seven local authorities across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough have joined forces and secured Future Parks funding to develop innovative solutions that will secure and enhance the future of our public parks and green spaces. We want to ensure we have the open space infrastructure we need, and the sustainable funding to support these spaces, for existing communities and to support the scale of the county’s growth ambitions. The two-year programme will work to develop a strategic, cross-sector partnership approach between Cambridgeshire’s local authorities, developers, charities, communities and businesses.

This is an opportunity for a qualified and motivated individual to coordinate the partnership and facilitate the co-design and development of an ambitious 25-year strategy for our parks and green spaces. The successful candidate will build excellent working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and will inspire and influence others, in order to identify, drive and embed new ways of working that will support the management, funding and creation of green spaces in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The pace of improvement needs to be rapid and sustainable and the Future Parks programme will work innovatively and iteratively, so adaptability and focus on delivery are critical.

This is a new role with a high level of decision-making and accountability, and would suit experienced project and programme managers from a range of sectors including (but not limited to) public sector transformation, parks and landscapes, commercial enterprises, and planning and development.

The post will be hosted by Cambridgeshire County Council, but the post holder will work with all project partners and a range of other stakeholders, including Chief Executives, local politicians, community groups, developers and businesses. In discussion with their line manager, the successful candidate will therefore have flexibility as to where they work from, although a home base will be set for mileage purposes.

This is a fixed term post until May 2021.

Provisional interview dates are 30th September, 2nd and 3rd October
