Once referred to as the ‘Alps of Glamorgan’, the upland peatland landscape between Neath Port Talbot and Rhondda Cynon Taf in the South Wales Valleys has long been forgotten. The area was at one time a huge expanse of peat bog and other upland habitats stretching as far as the eye could see, this amazing landscape has been hidden under forestry since the 1950s or 60s. With only a few members of the local communities still remembering the riches that hide beneath the trees the Lost Peatlands of South Wales project aims to re-discover and restore this forgotten landscape. With peatland restoration a globally important endeavour the project also aims to improve local people’s lives. Empowering people to be active, healthy and able to enjoy their local outdoor space; whilst inspiring local people, visitors and school children to discover and learn more about this amazing place!

If you have the passion and energy to drive this exciting project forward why not join us as project manager? An exciting opportunity to make a difference to the environment and people’s lives.
