Salary £17,500 - £19,500 pa 
Hours: 28pw (Provisionally Tuesday – Friday) 
Based: York and Surrounding area – Travelling within approx. 1 hour. 

About the role: 

The York branch has been running environmental projects in York and North Yorkshire for over 30 years.  We are seeking an enthusiastic, adaptable and committed person to join the York Conservation Volunteers team for this important post. This post holder will manage primarily the well-established Midweek Volunteer Group. This volunteer group delivers a varied programme of potentially large scale practical environmental projects in urban and rural locations every week throughout the year. The role is primarily weekdays, but with an occasional Saturday practical task (approximately once every 2-3 months) with time off in lieu. 

This role is primarily field based. Key responsibilities of this post include - managing, supporting and supervising teams of volunteers carrying out practical projects; developing and planning weekly paid practical project work through liaising with partners and land managers; developing plans and quotes for clients; managing Key Volunteers and Voluntary Officers; resource & equipment management and logistics, together with publicity and fundraising. The role will also support the Community & Education Senior Project Officer to deliver the practical elements of that work programme, 1 day/week has been allocated to this, but this may be flexible as required. 

The successful applicant will have had several years of experience working in the environment sector or similar. Be able to plan practical projects including ordering materials and other logistics. Be able to demonstrate an understanding of a range of practical conservation tasks, experience in supervising groups of people, which may include vulnerable adults and people with learning difficulties. An ability to communicate effectively with people with varying abilities as well as children, together with personal qualities of resourcefulness and flexibility. 

You will be required to drive a 9-seater minibus. For insurance this means you must meet the TCV minibus driving requirements.
