Forestry England is looking for an ambitious and motivated individual to join a dedicated team of staff managing the public forest estate in the East of England.

East England Forest District covers an area of 35,000 hectares from North Norfolk to Brighton and is headed by Tristram Hilborn with over 150 directly employed staff. The Trainee Machine Operator will be based at Santon Downham as part of the Harvesting Team working throughout the Thetford Beat. The direct production harvesting team harvests approximately 50,000m3 of timber a year. The team consists of a Harvesting Forester, a Forestry Works Supervisor and 5 Machine Operators operating a harvester, two forwarders, a front end loader and a mini forwarder. 

The role of Trainee Machine Operator will be provided with a full training programme for applicants to gain their Forest Machine Operator Certification Scheme (FMOCS) qualification. If you are looking for a rewarding career working outdoors then this role could be for you.
