Hours of Work: 08:00-18:00 Monday to Friday with the occasional requirement for weekend/Bank Holiday work

Our client is a multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy operating across the UK and the Republic of Ireland. More recently, in response to client demands, the Company have constructed a number of product bundles from their full range of services, which are designed to overcome environmental challenges in specific markets and sectors.

The Environmental Monitoring Technician Role:

They are currently recruiting for Environmental Monitoring Technicians to join the Environmental Monitoring team, with opportunities available in North London, South London and Reading (with close access to major roads and motorways).

Employed on a full-time basis working a 45-hour week with the occasional requirement for weekend and bank holiday work, the postholder will report to the Environmental Monitoring Project Manager. The primary purpose of this post is to attend and investigate water pollution incidents, undertake field-based monitoring and collect environmental samples for laboratory analysis. Key tasks and accountabilities associated with the role are as follows:

  • Attending and investigating water pollution incidents throughout London and surrounding areas.
  • Undertaking field monitoring works including water quality measurements and sampling
  • Technical report writing in response to water pollution incidents, time limited in accordance with client requirements
  • Provision of accurate and timely information to line management
  • Supporting team performance by sharing knowledge and best practices at all levels
  • Any other duties for which the post holder is qualified and able to carry out

Environmental Monitoring Technician Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level in a Biological or Environmental Sciences discipline and demonstrate an understanding of water chemistry and the indicative parameters
  • Experience in scientific fieldwork, GIS, laboratory analysis and Environmental Compliance (Essential)
  • Experience of aquatic macro-invertebrate sampling and aquatic macro-invertebrate identification skills to Family level (Preferred)
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills (Essential)
  • Possess a Full, clean, UK Driving Licence
  • Competent with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, following precise protocols
  • Therefore an enthusiasm for working outdoors in all weathers (Essential)
  • Easy access to motorway networks (Essential)
  • Motivated, friendly and confident when interacting with clients
  • Consistently deliver excellent service whilst representing the Company in a positive manner
