Would you like to be a part of The London Borough of Hounslow, whose diverse workforce are committed to making a positive difference for our residents and visitors by ensuring the quality of our services are maintained to a high standard?

The Council is embarking upon a major programme of change to modernise the way we work and reduce our carbon footprint. In April 2019 we moved to Hounslow House, a new landmark building located in Hounslow town centre, our new technology will enable staff to work remotely and flexibly to improve the service we provide to residents and to help our staff achieve a better work/life balance.

We’re committed to providing our residents with the best environment. Now, we have an exciting opportunity for a creative Environmental Strategy Officer who will help us stop the climate emergency and improve our surroundings.

In this role, you’ll use your project manager skills to develop and implement environmental strategies across the borough. In fact, you’ll break down departmental barriers and work with all kinds of teams to deliver complex projects. Together, you’ll support organisational transformation and tackle environmental issues including (but not limited to) sustainability, biodiversity and the climate emergency. So, whether it’s noise pollution or managing the impacts of Heathrow airport, you’ll massively influence the environmental quality throughout Hounslow.

To join us, you’ll have good knowledge of the latest developments in environmental policy. In fact, you’ll keep up-to-date with European, national and regional legislation – and how it affects the borough. Educated to degree level (or equivalent qualification or experience), you’ll skilfully share your knowledge with a wide variety of people across the borough. And, with your agility and independence, you’ll realise your strategies.

But above all, it’s your passion and determination to work through problems that will see you excel. In return, we’ll offer your clear career progression, continued professional development and first-class flexible working opportunities.
