About the company:

Eunomia Research & Consulting is an independent environmental consultancy working primarily in the fields of waste management, resource efficiency, low carbon energy, marine planning and climate change mitigation. We employ around 90 members of staff and have offices in Bristol, London, Manchester, Brussels, Athens, New York and Auckland. From these offices, we work throughout the UK, across EU Member States and beyond.

Job description:

The successful applicants will work predominantly in the areas of waste operations and resources management. This will involve project managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery of high-quality products within budget, whilst also undertaking some technical delivery (e.g. drafting of reports and presenting results, and other tasks depending on your skills and aptitudes). It will also involve managing and contributing to the preparation of bids.

The successful candidate will be a quick learner, who is confident in communicating ideas with which they have only recently become familiar, so as to provide a conduit between technical experts and clients.

Person specification:

We are looking for up to two individuals whose track record includes at least three years’ relevant experience. You may be:

  • A project manager, with an interest in gaining technical expertise in the environmental services sector; and/or
  • An environmental services professional, with good subject matter knowledge and the desire to strengthen your project management skills.

A personal interest in, and commitment to, environmental issues is expected.

The role is well suited to someone able to respond to challenges in project delivery, and help find creative solutions. You need to be able to take on board information, synthesise it, and articulate to clients or members of the project team, whether verbally or in writing.

You will be an organised, efficient and ambitious self-starter with the desire to help us capitalise on our reputation and expertise to help us build our expanding business.

Essential:

  • At least three years’ experience in roles where you have undertaken project management and/or engaged with issues in waste and resources management;
  • Excellent self-discipline, organisational and communication skills;
  • Ability to think critically and strategically, and to take on board complex technical information;
  • Strong report writing expertise and excellent written English;
  • Strong IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office software;
  • Willingness to ‘muck-in’ and carry out a range of tasks as required;
  • A demonstrable interest in waste and resources issues and a commitment to the environmental and public service principles which drive Eunomia.

Desirable

  • A project management qualification or accreditation (e.g. PRINCE2 or MSP, APM membership);
  • Relevant professional membership (e.g. IEMA, CIWM)
  • Relevant sector experience (e.g. waste, recycling, waste operations), and/or an operational understanding of how local authority waste and recycling collection services are delivered;
  • Experience in line managing people; and
  • Experience in formulating writing funding proposals in response to a brief.

Remuneration

£27,000 to £32,000 (plus London weighting where applicable).

Holiday Entitlement

24 days per year (plus Bank Holidays) rising by 1 day each year to a maximum of 30 days per year.
