We are looking for a Youth Activation Manager who wants to join our fight against consumerism and the damage that this throw-away culture causes to our wellbeing and the planet.

We live in a highly consumerist society, in which we are brought up to equate more/bigger/flashier stuff with success. We are buying more and more in a ceaseless quest for an ever elusive and unattainable sense of satisfaction. Far from providing the emotional reward and comfort we are seeking, this relentless purchasing is in fact doing the opposite – the more we buy the worse we feel. Calling out the forces that drive hyper-consumption and supporting low-consumption and high-wellbeing lifestyles is critical; both in combating climate change and in reversing a spiralling mental health crisis we are seeing in young people.

Is it you we’re looking for?

We are looking for a confident communicator and facilitator to activate audiences through our youth campaigns, supporting them to challenge hyper-consumption and pioneer new ways of living that are good for us and good for the planet. We are looking for someone who loves being in the middle of the action – in a typical week you might be at a London film school leading experiential workshops to inspire young filmmakers to create radically different stories of the future, running web-meets with young climate campaigners to curate exciting social media content, and in Birmingham supporting groups of school children to explore the impacts of social media advertising on our wellbeing.

Key skills and experience

You will be a passionate, driven and organised individual with a track record of inspiring young people to take action on environmental or social issues. In addition we are looking for:


  • Experience in designing engaging activities/workshops for young audiences and in facilitating discussions on sensitive topics in a positive and inclusive manner
  • A passion for protecting our environment and a good understanding of major sustainability issues and how they relate to people’s everyday lives
  • A proven track record in managing youth projects and or campaigns and meeting ambitions, budgets and timelines
  • Experience in writing compelling communication content for web and social media
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to develop good relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal presentation skills and ability to create impactful visual aids


  • Experience in using social media to engage and target audiences
  • Understanding of use of tactics and content to increase participation in campaigns
  • Experience in working with the media and social influencers

Your priorities will be:

  1. Creating compelling content:
    1. Designing thought provoking content and activities for workshops and presentations with a range of audiences but primarily youth focused
    2. Developing and sourcing engaging campaign content for web/social media
  2. Leading engaging experiences and discussions:
    1. Facilitating workshops for a range of audiences and across a range of settings (secondary schools, film schools, businesses)
    2. Organising and hosting events to share our findings and get the views and concerns of young people in front of business and political decision makers
  3. Building our youth campaign and network:
    1. Managing the day to day delivery of projects that contribute to our youth campaign
    2. Building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including our youth panel, youth channels and organisations that support our work
    3. Growing our youth network and participation levels in our campaigns
