Job Purpose and Background

Are you passionate about the environment? Are you looking to join the environmental charity sector as the next step in your career? CDP has a great opportunity for four highly motivated, flexible Technical Officer to join our organisation on a short-term - 6-week basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join CDP’s Scoring team which assesses the disclosure of thousands of companies in order to generate a score that is a snapshot of a company’s performance in one of 3 environmental themes: Climate change, Water and Forests.

The successful candidates will join the scoring team and be involved running the annual scoring process, with a particular view to applying the scoring methodology to various corporate responses in Climate Change, Water and our Deforestation themes. The scoring team’s success depends on good stakeholder management and an important component of both following - and improving - agreed upon processes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working with the scoring team to deliver CDP’s annual scoring cycle, including;
    • Responding to technical queries about implementation of the scoring methodologies.
    • Scoring responses
    • Ensuring that scoring partners are applying the scoring methodology as intended.

Required skills and experience:

  • Academic and/or professional experience in climate change, water security and/or deforestation
  • High attention to detail and ability to work to tight timelines
  • The ability to understand, organize and analyze qualitative and quantitative data;
  • Facility with IT tools, including proficiency in MS tools especially the use of excel for data analysis;
  • Flexible, friendly and diligent working style with a proven record of working within a team to deliver projects successfully.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Academic and/or professional experience in climate change and/or corporate supply chains, with knowledge of relevant issues applying to some of the following sectors
  • Experience developing benchmarks or KPIs to measure corporate sustainability progress;
  • Familiarity with relevant organizations, standards and reporting systems working in corporate climate change; GRI, UNGC, PRI, GHG Protocol, ISO 14064 suite.

This is a full-time short-term contract (6 weeks) role based at CDP’s Central London office.

Salary and benefits£22,223 - £25,000 per annum, 30 days’ holiday excluding bank holidays, generous non-contributory pension provision, Employee Assistance Programme, life assurance and others.
