Exciting Sustainability Role at the University of London

The University of London is recruiting for a Sustainability Engagement Officer. It is a permanent position, ideal for someone with experience working on and leading sustainability engagements and behaviour change projects.

Property and Facilities Management 

The University of London Property & FM team are responsible for the management of an estate the size of 44 Wembley football pitches ranging from Georgian terraces built in the 1700s to 1980s purpose-built offices and student residences. Our estate portfolio includes masterpieces from Charles Holden and Sir Denys Lasdun making it a challenge to manage but also give us a sense of pride and responsibility to have the chance to take care of the estate and maintain them the best possible way.

The Sustainability Team have responsibility for promoting sustainability, developing and implementing policies and management systems and coordinating sustainable development across the University. There are a number of major projects underway including the management of an Environmental Management System, the implementation of carbon and energy savings, improving waste reduction and recycling, investment in energy efficiency, implementing a sustainable food policy as well as a range of other projects to address our significant sustainability impacts.

The Role 

The successful candidate will have experience in working on and leading sustainability projects and awareness activities and comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of environmental issues, including energy, waste, transport, water, food and procurement/supply chains.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage and run a sustainability behaviour change project in residential halls for Universities across the UK. The candidate will have to successfully manage and deliver the project, build on existing strong relationships with external clients, as well as get directly involved in acquiring new clients for the project to continue growing.

The role will suit a self-starting independent thinking candidate, who is passionate about sustainability, has a good understanding of running behaviour change projects, is innovative and creative, and has excellent interpersonal, project and time management skills.
