Rural Arisings Limited, formed in 2002 specialises in the recovery and reuse of wastes such as construction and demolition arisings to create environmental enhancements on complex projects. Our primary area of work is the creation of new parks and recreational facilities on closed landfill sites, remediation of contaminated sites and restoration of quarries. We take projects from inception, through feasibility, design and construction.

Our clients have included both public and private sectors:-

  • Swale Borough Council - Church Marshes Country Park, Sittingbourne
  • Belhus Land - Belhus Country Park (Essex) – under construction
  • Owner - Holmstead Farm – reed beds for the treatment of cattle slurry
  • Owner - Oakwood Park – polo pitch and viewing area
  • Owner - Cranleigh brickworks remediation
  • Owner – Quarry - Surrey

We are seeking a civil engineer to work full time as part of a small team. Duties to include:-

  • monitoring the construction of earthworks and drainage including capping, materials recovery and re-use, setting out and liaison with contracting staff
  • contamination management including soil sampling and testing and treatment plant
  • designing schemes for new sites; preparing drawings and documents for planning permission

Skills Required

The applicant should:

  • have a degree in Civil Engineering  
  • be a good communicator (both written and oral)
  • be a motivated self starter

Experience of working on a construction site or in a consultancy and with AutoCAD would be desirable

We will provide an opportunity for the successful applicant to obtain Chartered Status plus aligned qualifications within the waste recovery field.


The job is based at our company site offices in Belhus, South Ockendon, Essex. The candidate will be expected to work on various projects across the South East visiting other sites as part of the design and supervision role.


£25 – 27K depending on experience
