Assistant Farm Conservation Adviser – Cornwall

Full-time, permanent contract, based in the FWAG SouthWest Cornwall Office.

Starting salary: £19,500 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work alongside our established Farm Conservation Adviser in Cornwall, to work with farmers in the area to conserve and enhance the farmed environment in a way that works with the farm business.

FWAG SW is a charity that provides on-farm environmental advice to farmers on a wide range of agricultural and environmental issues.

The successful applicant will provide assistance to our adviser by providing GIS mapping support and report writing. Although the post is predominantly office based, candidates will also be required to conduct habitat surveys and basic botanical surveying. The post will assist FWAG SW in delivering a combination of project work and contractual consultancy services to the agricultural sector. The role will also require the candidate to support our membership events which may require working evenings and weekends occasionally.

Candidates must have a degree in an environmental or agricultural discipline and be experienced in GIS mapping software (preferably QGIS, ArcGIS or MapInfo). The post will suit a highly motivated and organised individual looking to develop a career in farm wildlife conservation.

Closing date for applications: 1st July 2019 5pm (BST)
Interview date: Monday 8th July 2019, in the St Austell area

Candidates must cover their own travel expenses to attend the interview

Due to the large number of applications we receive it is not possible to give individual feedback on unsuccessful applications.

Applicants that do not secure an interview will not be contacted but receipt of all applications will be acknowledged by email.

Applications must be made by application form to be considered. You may submit a CV to support your application if you wish.
