An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced technical energy manager to join a newly formed sustainability team and make a lasting contribution to the University of Surrey's carbon reduction plans. The role presents a challenging opportunity across a range of mixed-use building types, complex laboratories, veterinary schools and word class sports facilities.

Working for the Head of Sustainability, the role will encompass both strategic and operational elements. At an operational level, there will be a strong focus on identifying and delivering savings from optimising the University's existing BMS. At a strategic level, the successful candidate will work collaboratively to develop the University’s carbon management strategy.

The role includes responsibility for assisting in the management of the University’s £7.5m annual utilities budget, managing the annual Salix budget, ensuring the University’s ongoing statutory compliance and involvement in an exciting range of new building / refurbishment projects.

The candidate will have an excellent working knowledge of BMS and will be able to use the system to identify and prioritise a programme of efficiency improvements. They will work collaboratively across the University with technical and non-technical teams to deliver these efficiency programmes. They will also understand AM&T systems and be able to develop the existing system and use it to its full potential for reporting, prioritising, communicating and compliance.

This is a broad role and is ideally suited to a candidate with a proven track record and the ability and ingenuity to deliver projects at pace in a changing environment.
