A new and exciting post has arisen for a Ecology Consultancy Manager (ECM) to help develop a new ecological consultancy arm to a wider landuse Group. The Group are leaders with Site Clearance work and operate well-established Arboricultural services.

The consultancy will operate from a set of newly acquired offices in Wellingborough. This Northamptonshire office will add to an existing 4-man ecology team. The ECM is needed to bring a senior ecology-based skill-set to the Group’s management team, and develop the existing small Consultancy from these basic roots, building upon the consultancy’s existing client base and providing a new service for the Group’s clients as a whole.

  • Salary £negotiable depending on experience (£50-60+k)

What you can bring

  • An appropriate degree qualification;
  • A minimum of 8-10 years’ relevant professional experience;
  • An ecological specialism in one or more areas of practice;
  • Excellent knowledge of UK and European environmental legislation;
  • Excellent report writing skills, including protected species surveys, EPSM applications, ES chapters and ecological management plans;
  • The ability to critically review own output and possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in reviewing others’ work;
  • Strong skills in the survey of and mitigation for two or more of the following key protected species: bats, badger, breeding birds, dormouse, great crested newt, reptiles, and water vole;
  • Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) and preferably CEcoL;
  • A full clean UK driving licence
