Self-employed, up to 135 days per year, averaging 3 days per week. Twelve month contract in the first instance, extending by mutual agreement.

Cleeve Common Trust is a registered charity responsible for the management of Cleeve Common, a prominent Site of Special Scientific Interest on the Cotswold scarp and one of the largest areas of unimproved limestone grassland in Gloucestershire. As well as being host to many rare plants and animals, Cleeve Common is an important site for farming, heritage and provides a huge amenity resource for both local people and visitors from further afield.

We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join our committed and flexible organisation as Operations Manager. You will lead a small team of Rangers, plan and deliver conservation management, look after the Trust’s herd of Galloway cattle and interact with visitors to the Common and a wide range of stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have proven skills and experience in organising and implementing practical land management, to include delivery by external contractors and volunteers. He/she will have excellent communication, team working and networking skills, as interaction with members of the public and a wide range of stakeholders is an important aspect of the role. We also need someone with livestock (cattle) experience and the ability to participate in on-the-ground practical work.
