Eden Rivers Trust is looking for an individual to lead on the Trust’s Habitat Conservation and Species Monitoring within the Eden catchment.

The role will be split evenly between habitat management and species monitoring and you will be expected to have, or be able, to develop the skills and experience required to deliver on both fronts.

The role will be centred on increasing the understanding of and habitat conservation management for selected species such as Atlantic salmon, brown trout, white clawed crayfish, otter, kingfisher and invertebrates.

If you have a track record in the monitoring of species (preferably freshwater) and developing, managing and delivering practical habitat works to support species conservation, we would be interested in hearing from you.

To deliver this work you will need to work with contractors and volunteers so it is important that you have experience in this area.

You will be adept at identifying funding opportunities, managing budgets and reporting to donors. You will have confidence and credibility, and be able to engage and influence a variety of stakeholders.

Eden Rivers Trust, alongside key partners in Cumbria, has been at the centre of innovative river restoration since 2011. The organisation runs water friendly farming initiatives, and since the floods of 2013-15 has been working to implement natural solutions to flood management. Opportunities abound for developing projects that will benefit the iconic species of the Eden and Tributaries SSSI/SAC.

Based in Penrith, the post holder will work in the scenic rolling countryside of the Eden Valley, with the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines just on the doorstep.
