The Role:

Zero Waste Scotland, Scotland’s resource efficiency and circular economy expert, is looking for an experienced professional to assist us in realising the ambitions of the Scottish Government’s Circular Economy strategy and Zero Waste Scotland’s ERDF Resource Efficient Circular Economy Accelerator Programme.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of driving sustainable change within the energy sector and enabling Scottish businesses to realise the opportunities for growth and development associated with adopting circular economy business practices. Working within the ERDF Circular Economy team, you will be responsible for engaging with energy stakeholder organisations and individual businesses to identify and develop implementation plans for these opportunities. You will be expected to liaise closely with the enterprise agencies and other support organisations and to build a clear profile within the sector as a circular economy expert. Through developing strong relationships with individual businesses, you will create a pipeline of projects from across the energy sector in Scotland to the Zero Waste Scotland Circular Economy Investment Fund and Business Support Service, working closely with other Zero Waste Scotland Sector Managers and under direction from the Circular Economy Business Support Programme Manager. Additionally, you will be expected to manage contractors delivering business support and engagement projects on our behalf and ensure that businesses are fully supported during their journey towards adoption of circular economy business practices.

The candidate:

To be successful in this role you will have broad experience in the Scottish energy sector and the ability to work persuasively with businesses and industry stakeholders to generate and implement circular economy business solutions within appropriate organisations. You will be educated to degree level or equivalent or hold a relevant professional qualification and be able to demonstrate strong organisational skills with experience of developing and implementing project plans successfully. Strong relationship management skills and the ability to facilitate successful outcomes for a range of stakeholders are also essential. Prior experience with the development of circular economy related approaches is desirable.
