Starting salary £34,376 (pay range is £34,376 - £39,661 and the successful candidate will be appointed to the starting point)

Fixed Term Contract (or Secondment) Opportunity for 3 years – 35 Hours per week

The Role:

Zero Waste Scotland, Scotland’s resource efficiency and circular economy expert, is looking for an experienced Project Manager to be responsible for our partnership within a new transnational project (ProCirc), which aims to transform the way we procure goods and services.

ProCirc is a 3-year project (part-funded by the eco-innovation strand of North Sea Regions (NSR) Intereg Programme) that focuses on supporting procurers, sellers & supply chains from 4 sectors (construction, furniture, textiles and ICT) to work together to develop & deliver circular goods & services. The partnership includes 11 organisations from the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway and the UK (Zero Waste Scotland & Business in the Community). The project partners will support ~30 circular procurement pilots with a combined value of €40M. Each pilot aims to reduce raw materials, waste and CO2 emissions by 25%.

Working closely with the Sector Manager, this exciting new position will support a range of activities that are required to implement Zero Waste Scotland’s partnership role in ProCirc, including management of technical and/or research projects, fund administration and stakeholder engagement activities.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Commissioning & managing associated contractor support.
  • Assisting with the development & operation of collaborative learning networks in close partnership with other network organisations such as the Scottish Circular Economy Business Network and Business in the Community.
  • Organising, facilitating and presenting at workshops, seminars and other types of event in collaboration with Intereg partners & key stakeholders. NB: Activities will be held in Intereg North Sea Region eligible areas (East Coast, Highland & Central areas of Scotland). The post-holder is expected to travel regularly to and within these areas to support programme activity.
  • Writing reports and developing presentation and other training materials.
  • Recording project data and submitting financial claims using an Online Monitoring system

The candidate:

To be successful in this role you will be educated to degree level or have experience in a relevant discipline e.g. environmental science or procurement professional qualifications. You will have significant experience of a project management environment, with experience of working with a multiple and complex set of stakeholders. Excellent written and communication skills are required, along with experience of organising and presenting at events/workshops. A broad general knowledge of the circular economy and procurement processes is also required for this role.
