School Streets Project Officer, Liverpool (ref: SUS2646)

£24,446 per annum

37.5 hours per week – 12 month contract – initially based in Manchester

This exciting and interesting role will be promoting cycling, walking and scooting at selected primary and secondary schools in Liverpool, as part of a package of measures to increase the number of pupils, parents and school staff travelling actively to and from school, and for other local journeys and will work with communities, schools and the Sustrans Design and Engineering team on the co-discovery and co-design of effective solutions to issues they have identified around school streets.

With a good standard of education, you will have experience of working with children and young people and with partners on a community based or environmental project as well as experience of project management and of delivering physical activity or other behaviour change projects. You will have excellent written and verbal presentation skills, the ability to delivery engagement activities and promotional events and to motivate and enthuse others. You will have excellent organisational skills and be able to prioritise and manage your own workload. You will have an understanding of school settings and of the health benefits of active travel, be IT literate and committed to the promotion of sustainable transport. Clearance by an Enhanced DBS Disclosure check is mandatory for this role.
