Transition Bro Gwaun requires a Project Co-ordinator with a passion for inspiring communities, a commitment to reducing waste and the skills to promote the Circular Economy. This person will work with TBG volunteers, staff and partner organisations to develop a new ‘waste busting’ project, building on the success of our Community Fridge, to develop a programme of waste reduction and money saving activities such as:

  • Clothes swaps and making clothes from old items
  • Repairing household items
  • Seed and plant swaps
  • Energy efficiency advice
  • Re-cycling plastic
  • Community feasts using surplus food
  • Craft and Play sessions using recycled materials

Role Requirements

To work with Transition Bro Gwaun’s Trustees and volunteers to:

  • Set up, organise and equip the waste-busting activities programme
  • Recruit, train and organise volunteers to help run the activities
  • Engage partner organisations in the project
  • Establish policies, procedures and guidance
  • Promote and publicise the activities across all sections of the community
  • Develop fundraising opportunities with the volunteers
  • Plan for the on-going viability of the project

  • Motivated and self-organising
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience of voluntary work and/or community engagement
  • Skills in training and organising people
  • Understanding of marketing and promotional work
  • Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures
  • IT and social media skills

The Project Co-ordinator and the programme of activities will be based at in Fishguard, Pembrokeshire.

Hours, Reimbursement and Benefits

The hours of work will be variable and will include some evening and weekend working, averaging 11.5 hours per week.

Payment will be £11 per hour amounting to £6,600 annual salary with 3% pension contributions and 7 days annual leave (£20,020 and 20-days annual leave pro rata).

This is a fixed term contract for one year, with funding from Pembrokeshire County Council’s Enhancing Pembrokeshire grant.

Induction, Training, Supervision and Accountability

TBG’s Trustee(s) with key responsibility for this project will provide induction, training and regular supervision of the person appointed to this post. The project co-ordinator will attend meetings at least monthly with the TBG Trustees and/or core group to report on the progress of the project and to agree the future work programme. They will also be responsible for monitoring the project, recording and keeping data and producing an end of project report.
