The primary purpose of this role is effective engagement and liaison with a multitude of stakeholder groups, particularly residents and their organised groups, parishes, Friends Groups, T&W Client Officers, local businesses, schools and further education, funders and other external organisations.  Ultimately, your purpose is to help deliver Telford and Wrekin’s strategic vision of Pride in our Community’.

Main Duties

  • Create, update and deliver a contract Communications and Engagement plan
  • Create, update and deliver a contract Activity plan
  • Agree and deliver the Community Engagement KPIs within an Annual Implementation Plan
  • Work with idverde’s operations team to manage Telford’s street scene environment in a way that maximises community benefit
  • Contribute to the health and well being of residents   
  • Protect the natural environment and biodiversity
  • Support the local economy
  • Prepare and present reports to various Stakeholder bodies
  • Encourage, recruit and manage volunteers
  • Identify local opportunities for business growth, for example with parishes, schools and other local businesses

Client and Customer care

  • Manage and deliver training courses for volunteers to increase their capacity, drawing upon the skills of the wider Greenspace Development Team and other idverde trainers
  • Meet and liaise with the Streetscene Client as well as other internal departments, disabled, ethnic and other stakeholder groups.
  • Attend regular meetings of the Stakeholder Panel, establish a customer feedback system and monitor trend results.
  • Run parish/residents’ workshops and ‘Meet Your Contractor’ days to maximise resident involvement and gain their input into the shaping of the service.
  • Run training courses for residents to be able to monitor the service provided.
  • Establish a programme of site surveys and visits with residents to implement improvements to streetscene and horticultural features.
  • Prepare and update Volunteer Calendars and Maps
  • Work with resident volunteers, community payback and corporate volunteer groups to provide added value services.
  • Design a range of events, such as summer holiday programmes for teenagers to become involved in designing, planting and managing greenspace

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Qualified to Degree level or equivalent in Landscape or Horticultural related fields   
  • Extensive experience gained within a streetscene or horticultural environment preferably within Local Authority or Housing Association environment
  • Understanding of Health and Safety at work policy and practice especially in the management of volunteers, and in Safeguarding practice
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of people
  • Good presentational and consultation skills   
  • I.T. skills, practical experience of both Word and Excel software packages
  • Track record of successful fundraising and grant applications    
  • Demonstrable ability to produce plans and drawings of new landscape schemes.
  • Able to work to financial budgets

This role will require you to travel to current contract locations as well as any future contract locations and, therefore, a full valid driving licence is essential.
