Two year fixed term, full time position

Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017, standing proud as the largest National Park in England and with more than 18 million visitors every year, the Lake District National Park is loved all over the world.

We’re looking for someone to join our natural environment team who is creative in their approach to tasks, enthusiastic, inspiring and wants to assist with the policy development, management and community engagement of the special qualities of the National Park now and in the future management of the place, for the benefit of the environment and the people who live, work and visit here. This is a great opportunity to develop and your nurture skills and experience, engaging a range of audiences, in particular farmers, land managers and young people.

The role is expected to make meaningful contribution to the review of the Partnership Management Plan and will principally require project management skills and an understanding of project management to support the delivery of a range of projects through our Natural Environment programme. These include a range of projects themed around land management, wildlife conservation, community engagement, biodiversity and landscape, as well as climate change mitigation and adaptation. Other duties for this role includes provision of technical advice to other services, partners and communities who deliver the strategies and policies for the National Park. As well as providing specialist input to strategic policies and plans, relating to the National Park’s specific special qualities and attributes of Outstanding Universal Value.

The post holder will also work with the colleagues to develop opportunities for volunteering in the natural environment and contribute to the organisation’s delivery of its Volunteering Strategy. Experience in delivering outreach, working with volunteers and the public as well as using social media will be welcome.
